What is a Proctor & How To Use Them
A proctor is an individual who agrees to receive the tests from the student’s instructor, administer them in an academically approved environment and return them to the instructor. The proctor must verify that the student completed the test according to the specific directions of the instructor. Proctors are widely used in distance learning and all colleges and universities have testing proctors. Most military bases have proctors and they can be used for academic testing for distance learning.
If you are in Baghdad or aboard a ship and taking a class from a school in the United States, at some point you will need to take a test. You will need to find a testing proctor close to you, either at your base or at a local university. Sometimes a Chaplain, senior officer or Senior NCO who hold a degree that is equal to or higher than the degree that you are studying for can be a proctor. Once you find a proctor and they are approved by your school, the school will send your test and instructions to the proctor. The proctor will administer the test to you and once your test is completed, they will send the completed test back to your instructor.
